Instructions

Carefully remove the pages from two copies of the book you are converting into a StoryWalk. Using two copies allows you to mount the front and back of each page on separate pieces of cardstock.

Materials

  • 2 copies of a decodable book
  • Cardstock
  • 10‑mil laminating pockets
  • Industrial Strength Sticky Back Velcro®
  • 4-ft wooden garden stake

Mounting the Pages

Mount each page onto cardstock. Mount each page on card stock On the back of each cardstock sheet, write the page number and book title.

Laminating

Laminate each mounted page using 10‑mil laminating pockets for maximum durability.

Attaching the Velcro

Apply a strip of Industrial Strength Sticky Back Velcro® to the back of each laminated page.

Preparing the Stakes

Use a staple gun to attach the matching Velcro strip to a 4‑foot garden stake.

Installing the StoryWalk

Attach each laminated page to its stake. At this height, the pages sit at eye level for young children, and the vertical orientation helps protect them from fading and sun damage.
